URBAN, 17 (perhaps a nanny
to the children; may have been going to her Aunt Wilhelmine, who
immigrated in the 2nd wave of
STEMPELS in 1848) Pauline URBAN, was born Johanne Pauline URBAN, 10 Aug 1835, the daughter of Johann Christian URBAN and Elizabeth KOKRICK, of DRACHHAUSEN. This family had several girls with the 1st name of Johanne, followed by a second name, so they likely were known by their 2nd names. Pauline was traveling with the Robert STEMPEL family, wave 3 of the STEMPEL immigration. She would certainly be young to travel alone, and the STEMPEL’S had 4 young children, so she likely was acting as their Nanny. They were likely all headed for Wilhelmine URBAN had immigrated with the 2nd wave of STEMPEL’S in 1848, was also likely a Nanny or family helper to the STEMPEL’S and had married non Wend, Ludwig Huebotter, in 1850, in St John’s Church, Fort Madison Pauline URBAN is found as a godparent in the
christening record of fellow Wend, Heinrich Wilhem GULLICK, on 8 Feb
1855, at
